Headshots Advice and FAQ
Pricing / Booking; You can choose a package, pay and book your date directly
from my booking service, click HERE. If you need to reschedule or pay now and
schedule later that is fine, but I do require a 24 hour cancellation. I do not
place any restrictions on what we shoot in your session, whether you want to do
multiple outfits or different looks. The minimum session is an hour, but if you are
in a hurry and come ready to shoot, we can probably get it done in about half an hour.
What is a headshot, What makes a good headshot?
A good headshot should be an accurate and realistic representation of the subject.
You should look like yourself and look your age. You should update your headshot any time your look changes,
or every few years. A good headshot should not have overly dramatic lighting or effects. Headshots are not intended as
"fashion shots". It should invite the viewer in and make them want to know more about the subject. This can be done through
a combination of lighting, composition, and expression. If you are an actor wishing to audition for roles, headshots are an
absolutely necessary part of the process. Business executives, entrepreneurs, and everyday people also use headshots for bios,
social media, and an array of other purposes.
Styling Advice
Avoid wearing clothes with patterns since it creates more of a busy look to the photo. We want to be focused on your faces,
not on your outfit. Wear something that makes you feel good but something you might not wear often. Nothing in the photo
(jewelry, clothing, hairstyle, background, props, etc) should distract the viewer from the main point of interest. If you
would like to get some professional advice you may bring a few things to the shoot and I will let you know what I think.

Can I use my session to shoot inside your studio or add some studio time to my outdoor session?
Yes, you can shoot inside the studio, there is a fee to set up the paper and lights, and you can add it as an additional
hour to your outdoor session, click HERE for pricing.
How Do I receive my photos?
I can create a web gallery with your own unique url which you can share with family and friends, where you can download
images and purchase prints. This is much faster than the old fashioned way of burning cds, and will avoid you having to come
back and pick up a cd. You will have your images within a couple of days, usually the next day, and you can download them directly
from the site in full size. The web gallery will remain active for at least a year.
What If I have a pre purchased session?
If you have a pre purchased session, please see my calendar and pick a date! I am currently only shooting downtown in Battery
Park or south street seaport due to overbooking, I have great locations picked out around there and know what time of day is
good where etc. Also I am offering a full web gallery with all the images from the shoot, usually 200-400 in lieu of 50 images on cd.
Cancellation policy
There is a 24 hour cancellation policy, if you cancel within 24 hours you are subject to forfeiting your session but in some
cases I can reschedule for a $50 fee.
What to expect when working with me.
I like to move my subjects around and keep them entertained during the shoot to avoid blank stares and dull photos. Even the
most simple straightforward photo should have some life in it. I encourage communication, I like to know my subjects opinion
when choosing a background setting or pose and show them the images in the lcd screen so they can see how the photos are looking.
